This year’s 50 winning workplaces were determined by a number of factors including: financial stability, great work/life balance, opportunities to learn and grow, and commitment to charity and community.

The Washingtonian panel of editors evaluated nearly 200 companies and more than 8,000 employee surveys. Final award determinations relied greatly on survey answers given by a company’s employees. With a readership of more than 450,000, Washingtonian Magazine has been naming its “50 Great Places to Work” in the Washington, D.C. area every other year since 1999. This year’s winning workplaces range from an organization of 10 employees to a corporation with more than 80,000 employees, and include information technology companies, government agencies, government contractors, nonprofits, and many more.
